Final Edits Done, but Release Delayed: Here’s Why

A short post today.

Well, it’s official – the final edit of Short Sharp Shock is done! I’ve just finished going over the paperback proof, and I’m really happy with how it’s all turned out. But, and here’s the thing, the release date is now TBC.

I had hoped to get the book out in time for Halloween. After all, it would have been the perfect time for a collection like this to drop. But as much as I wanted to rush to meet that spooky deadline, I’ve decided not to. I don’t want to put it out there without doing it justice, and there are a few things I want to take care of first.

The main reason for the delay? ARC copies. I want to get some Advance Reader Copies into the hands of readers before the official release. The feedback from these early readers will help ensure that when Short Sharp Shock does hit the shelves, it’s polished and ready to go. Rushing this part of the process just doesn’t feel right.

And honestly, another factor is my university work. With everything kicking into high gear, I’ve had to make a choice about where to put my energy. For now, uni has to take the front seat. As much as I want to get this collection out there, balancing my studies with this release just isn’t happening as smoothly as I’d hoped.

So, bear with me. Short Sharp Shock is coming – just not quite yet. And when it does, I promise it’ll be worth the wait.
