I’m honestly not quite sure what to say about Morsels by Abe Moss. It’s one of those books that isn’t bad at all — the writing’s solid, the pacing works fine — but for some reason it just feels very… average. “Meh” really sums it up. I didn’t dislike it, but I never felt properly invested either.
The premise has potential, and there are moments where it almost clicks, a creepy scene here, an unsettling bit of tension there, but it never fully comes together in a way that leaves a lasting impression. I kept waiting for that moment where everything would hit harder or take a surprising turn, but it just sort of drifted along. It’s competently written, but lacks that spark that makes you want to talk about it afterwards.
There’s nothing glaringly wrong with it; it’s not poorly written or frustrating to read. It’s more that it sits comfortably in that middle ground of being “fine.” It passes the time well enough, but I didn’t feel much by the end; not scared, not thrilled, just… done.
If you’re after something simple and easy to get through, Morsels does the job. But if you’re looking for a horror novel that really lingers or pushes boundaries, this one might leave you a bit underwhelmed.

Morsels of terror? Perfect for October chills! 👻
