Remasters are a thing in present popular culture, from movies to TV series to video games, everything is getting remastered. I’ve taken this one step further and have remastered a book.
Way back in 2018 I wrote and released my first book; Creatures. It had mixed reviews but overall did quite well. So well that I had it in me to write two sequels for it over the following few years.
As Creatures was my first book, Back when I didn’t think I could write anything and only did it to get a story out of my head, so it wasn’t my best work. And because I wrote the sequels that are markedly much better written, I’ve always felt like Creatures wasn’t the best introduction to the series.
Well, over the past few months, in between writing essays and other pieces for uni, I have been quietly working away on the Creatures “remaster”. I’ve rewritten most of the book to match the narratives of the other two books in the series. I have fixed glaring errors and done an all-round tidy-up of the work, and I am much happier with it.
This remaster has been uploaded and sent out and anyone who buys or downloads the book now will have this new version. To go with this I also did an overhaul on the cover to again match it with the rest of the series. This can be seen below

While I was doing that, I was thinking about other things that I could do with the trilogy to get it out to more readers. I quickly had the idea to release them together as a collection. And that’s exactly what I have done. On April 5th 2024, the Creatures Collection was released for Kindle and Kindle Unlimited. There’s no paperback as of yet as the page count is too high for most paperback publishing options. I’m going to keep working on it, but for now the Kindle version is it. As well as being all 3 (for now) of the Creatures books, it is selling at a price that is cheaper than buying the books separately… Only £6/$6.
With the release of this collection, I think I’m done with the Creatures Series, at least for now. I’m not ruling out possibly going back to it at a later date, but I feel that for now, I want to put it away and work on other more original ideas.
However, having said that, at the moment, I still have some work to do for uni, so any other writing has had to take a back seat. But I’m nearly over with my current year, and I’m hoping to get back into some more enjoyable writing over the summer as well; of course, getting back into writing more blogs.
